Lanvin, designed by Alber Elbaz, showed their spring and summer 2011 collection today during Paris Fashion Week. Lanvin's collection was filled with a an autumn-like color palette of deep mustard, navy, black, soft red, dark teal and shades of brown as well as candy colored pink and yellow. The collection featured sheer fabrics, pencil skirts, office-ready dresses and suits as well as a fresh, new handbag collection. Lanvin featured new handbag styles on their Paris Fashion Week runway moving away from the ultra feminine handbags from the fall collection. There were long straps, structured handbags and cross body mini-bags. Lanvin featured a beige leather, structured, boxy shoulder bag that was small in size with a long strap. There was also a black shoulder bag with a long strap that featured softer leather and a classic flap. Both shoulder bags had tan leather straps that contrasted the main handbag's color. The shoulder bags could easily fit normal purse essentials as well as a few extra, small items. There was also a cross body mini-bag on Lanvin's Paris Fashion Week runway which was pewter and featured a black strap and two floral decorations in gold and pewter. The cross body mini bag has been popping up on the runway during New York, Milan and Paris fashion weeks. It seems to be one of the hot new trends in handbags for spring and summer 2011. Lanvin created a fresh new collection for spring and summer 2011 which moves away from the light-hearted feminine handbags from fall 2010. The long strap handbags are luxurious and right in line with the current long strap trend in shoulder bags. The cross body mini bags offer Fashionistas a dressy alternative to a semi-formal clutch. The shoulder bags from Lanvin are more unique than what many other designers have been offering for spring and summer, it should be interesting to see if one or more of Lanvin's shoulder bags hit "IT" bag status this spring.
