Valentino sent his ready to wear collection for spring and summer 2011 down the Paris Fashion Week runway earlier today and it was a mix of classic silhouettes, ladylike details and an extensive handbag collection. In the past few seasons, Valentino has created floral based handbags with multiple flowers made from leather adorning the handbag or one large flower as a focal point. Valentino's handbags in the past few seasons have been structured, classic lady bags as well as softer, floral totes. For spring and summer 2011, Valentino has moved away from the designs of the past few seasons and into new handbag design territory. Valentino created multiple shoulder bags for his Paris Fashion Week runway which were shown in small and medium sizes. The shoulder bags had clean, rectangular lines and were made from shiny, smooth, structured leather. Valentino used a chain strap on the handbags that is constructed much like the chain on Chanel's 2.55 where it can be worn as a single strap or double strap. As a single strap, Valentino's shoulder bags drop to the middle of the hip bone. Worn as a double strap, Valentino's shoulder bags will hit at the bottom of the rib cage. Valentino used small studded details on his medium sized shoulder bags and a double closure detail on his small shoulder bags. The shoulder bags that Valentino created were slightly dressy and could pass for the office or daytime special event. There was also a small, soft leather clutch on Valentino's runway during Paris Fashion Week which featured small studs. The clutch was perfect for daytime looks and fit right into the current small, daytime clutch trend Fashionistas have seen coming off of the New York, Milan, London and Paris runways. Valentino also created a casual, daytime hobo with small studded detail. Valentino's hobo fits right into the soft hobo trend for spring and also has a slight edge making it appropriate for understated, rocker chic looks; another runway trend for spring 2011. The hobo featured two, thin straps and could be worn on the shoulder or forearm. When worn on the shoulder, the top of the hobo bag would hit at the bottom of the rib cage. Valentino created a clean, classic and fashion forward handbag collection for spring and summer 2011 that fits right into the current trends from New York, Milan, London and Paris. The collection is large and will be highly coveted for spring and summer by Fashionistas everywhere.
