La Boutique Handbags is new on the downtown skywalk, at 500 Grand Ave. in the Keck City Center. In honor of the grand opening Tuesday and Wednesday, a 10 percent discount will be given on purchases La Boutique sells handbags and other accessories, including glitzy jewelry and watches, trendy scarves, sunglasses, cosmetic bags and suitcases. It also has a section of men’s accessories such as ties, money clips and wallets. Caveat: this is good shopping for the not-too-serious. Items are colorful and fun. This boutique replaced Lily Lu’s in the space next to Pablo’s California Taqueria and across from the Indian Grill. It opened Wednesday. The owner is Maria Ly, who said she will work with customers to find just the item they want at a reasonable price. If they don’t see what they want, she will special order it. Ly said she is looking for unusual items, and one of the specialities she has is rice writing — jewelry featuring an encapsulated grain of rice with a handwritten name on it. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Thursdays, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays.
