Central London Gucci store hit by handbag raid

Robbers stole handbags worth more than £20,000 after smashing their way into the Gucci store in central London. A silver car drove into the front of the shop in Sloane Street on Thursday evening at about 2300 BST. Four men on two motorbikes then entered the store and stole the merchandise before heading off towards Sloane Square, police said. The motorbikes were black and three of the men were wearing dark clothing, while another man wore a purple jacket. Earlier this month, 30 Vivienne Westwood handbags, worth up to £800 each, were stolen after four men on two mopeds crashed through the door of the store in Conduit Street, close to Regent Street.

Sonia Rykiel handbags Paris Fashion Week spring summer 2011

Sonia Rykiel sent her spring and summer collection down the Paris Fashion Week runway earlier today and it was filled with 1970's inspired designs and vivid colors. Sonia Rykiel featured loose fitting trousers and menswear inspired designs along with hats and tie belts. The color palette in Sonia Rykiel's spring and summer collection featured soft mustard, vivid orange and shades of brown. Sonia Rykiel created a handbag collection which fit right into the vintage and colorful vibe of her spring and summer collection by including the long shoulder strap, casual clutches, weekend totes and bucket bags. Sonia Rykiel featured a shoulder bag on her Paris Fashion Week runway which had a long strap, flap closure and long, dangling two-tone tassels. The shoulder bag dropped to the bottom of the models hips with a long, dangling tassel that reached down to mid-thigh. Sonia Rykiel used soft, luxurious leather in tan, yellow, red and black. The shoulder bags were roomy enough to fit normal purse essentials as well as a few extra items. There were also striped shoulder bags on Sonia Rykiel's Paris Fashion Week runway which were large and roomy. The shoulder strap on the striped handbag was shorter than the medium handbag and hit at the top of the hipbone. There was a flap closure with a silver buckle and the handbag was done in fabric; a breath of fresh air for Fashionistas who shun animal products. Sonia Rykiel also featured a small clutch on her Paris Fashion Week runway that offered a frame clasp closure with contrasting color tassels. The clutches were made in fabric or leather and done in yellow, teal and black. The clutches were casual and appropriate for daytime use. Sonia Rykiel's clutches were small and could only fit a billfold, keys and lipstick. There was large weekender's on Sonia Rykiel's spring and summer runway in both leather and striped canvas. The weekend totes were large and roomy serving as an airplane carry-on or two-day getaway luggage. Sonia Rykiel's weekender featured two top handles and was hand-held by the models on the runway. Lastly, Sonia Rykiel featured a hippie chic, tan leather shoulder bag with fringe and zig zag cutout edges. The shoulder bag featured two multi-color tassels and an ultra long shoulder strap. The handbag dropped to middle of the models thighs and could easily be worn cross body as opposed to over the shoulder; as shown on the runway. Sonia Rykiel's handbag collection was both hippie chic and 1970's office-ready. The styles were right on trend and could easily fit into a Fashionistas wardrobe without the worry of clashing trends from fall into spring.

Lanvin handbags Paris Fashion Week spring summer 2011

Lanvin, designed by Alber Elbaz, showed their spring and summer 2011 collection today during Paris Fashion Week. Lanvin's collection was filled with a an autumn-like color palette of deep mustard, navy, black, soft red, dark teal and shades of brown as well as candy colored pink and yellow. The collection featured sheer fabrics, pencil skirts, office-ready dresses and suits as well as a fresh, new handbag collection. Lanvin featured new handbag styles on their Paris Fashion Week runway moving away from the ultra feminine handbags from the fall collection. There were long straps, structured handbags and cross body mini-bags. Lanvin featured a beige leather, structured, boxy shoulder bag that was small in size with a long strap. There was also a black shoulder bag with a long strap that featured softer leather and a classic flap. Both shoulder bags had tan leather straps that contrasted the main handbag's color. The shoulder bags could easily fit normal purse essentials as well as a few extra, small items. There was also a cross body mini-bag on Lanvin's Paris Fashion Week runway which was pewter and featured a black strap and two floral decorations in gold and pewter. The cross body mini bag has been popping up on the runway during New York, Milan and Paris fashion weeks. It seems to be one of the hot new trends in handbags for spring and summer 2011. Lanvin created a fresh new collection for spring and summer 2011 which moves away from the light-hearted feminine handbags from fall 2010. The long strap handbags are luxurious and right in line with the current long strap trend in shoulder bags. The cross body mini bags offer Fashionistas a dressy alternative to a semi-formal clutch. The shoulder bags from Lanvin are more unique than what many other designers have been offering for spring and summer, it should be interesting to see if one or more of Lanvin's shoulder bags hit "IT" bag status this spring.

Launches the Industry’s First Online Authentic Luxury Handbag Exchange Service

decktOut™, a high-end, online luxury handbag exchange service, today announced the launch of its new website http://www.decktOut.com. This members’ only website allows users to refresh their designer collection in a simple, fun way, by exchanging authentic luxury handbags and purses. Using an exclusive points based system, users are able to submit designer handbags and select something new from decktOut’s pre-owned luxury collection including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Christian Dior, Lanvin and Chloe. “Our focus is on two core attributes: simplicity and peace of mind, and decktOut provides just that,” said Liza Adams, founder of decktOut. “Users don’t even need to print a shipping label or upload pictures. Since all bags are inventoried, hand checked and professionally photographed, users can be confident that they are exchanging their bag for another piece, just as fabulous, to add to their collection.” The handbag exchange process is easy and begins with submitting an item. Users earn points by answering a handful of questions about their bag such as brand, style, material and condition, which instantly generates a point value for that item. The submission process is completed by scheduling a FedEx pickup. When decktOut receives a bag, it is reviewed for quality and authenticity; members’ points are available for use as soon as their bag has been checked and approved. At that point, they may shop for something new of equal or lesser point value. The total cost of the exchange is $50 which includes bi-directional 2-day shipping.

Dries Van Noten handbags Paris Fashion Week spring summer 2011

Dries Van Noten sent their spring and summer 2011 ready to wear collection down the runway today during Paris Fashion Week. The collection was filled with breezy, pastel silks and the occasional floral print. Dries Van Noten created an easy to wear collection that will go from the runway into reality without a problem. The handbag collection was equally wearable as Dries Van Noten showed a large, soft hobo and a medium sized shoulder bag on the Paris Fashion Week runway. The large soft hobo on the Dries Van Noten runway was a soft, pale blue leather and featured one top handle that the model wore tucked under arm. The hobo could easily fit all purse essentials plus a few extra items. The soft blue blended well into the Dries Van Noten color palette and can easily work with other designer collections from Milan and New York. Dries Van Noten also featured a square, soft leather shoulder bag with a medium length shoulder strap. The shoulder strap allowed the bag the to hit the model at the top of the hipbone. Dries Van Noten's shoulder bag was shown in white leather and was roomy enough to fit a few extra items in addition to normal purse essentials. Dries Van Noten created two classic, soft leather handbags for spring and summer that fit right into the large, soft hobo trend and the long shoulder strap trend. Hopefully Dries Van Noten will include additional colors to the handbag collection when it leaves Paris Fashion Week and arrives on store shelves.
